Blobsquatchery in the Expanded Field #3

Highly charged, part three arrives and it nearly killed me. Producing this juggernaut of paranormal portent exemplified the general rule of thumb held by circuit-benders --battery powered devices only--low voltage! The same might be said about semionautical pursuits. This dangerously dense installment concerns the correspondences and crossed wiring of Charles Fort with metaphortean and/or meta-fortean modes of understanding malfunction. Includes a clear and illogical dramatization of what happens in the duration of uncertainty. Also, Zack Denfeld, a metaphortean colleague of mine, shares his knowledge of engaging with the BEASape extension...a species discovered by Reed Ghazala circa 1967. Fort's theories of intermediacy are amplified by the intermedia manifestation of this marvelous creature.

Blobsquatchery in the Expanded Field #2

Above you will find Part Two. After a re-cap of known histories, we venture into the related realm of the globster. Like its close cousin the blobsquatch, the globster matches the increased scrutiny from a google-crazed world with the beguiling guise of being distinctly indistinct! Trackable? yes. Googlable? yes. But knowable only as an unknown thing! This installment includes a glimpse into Ogo Eion's (Loch) NES bending, too. Meanwhile, over yonder at the Paranormal Mechanisms thinktank, there is semi-conscious drifting towards meta-fortean phenomena!

Proto-Blobsquatchery

This video above is actually better suited as a prequel to part one. A bit of a polemic on The Bigfoot/Sasquatch as popular iconic image become overexposed. Despite the naturally unnatural cryptopotency of the creature itself, its' familiar mediated form has been domesticated and rewired for commercial ends. In the parallel dimension of Casiotone, a strangely resonant scenario unfolds. Emerged in the 1980s, Casio's children's toy keyboards built with limited sonic variability, relied on preset sounds and automated rhythms. They resurged in popularity into the 1990s as provisional instruments for DIY bands, musicians who couldn't find drummers, couldn't afford 'real' keyboards. The distinctly charming casiotones like "laserbeam" and "human voice" command attention (like a cryptid rushing through the woods) no matter what the context. Today, however, these toys have become the darlings of retro and vintage marketing campaigns that exploit the cultural capital of these low-tech legends. With all due respect to the innate cryptopotency of the Bigfoot and Casiotone --- I believe that the consumer-culturalization of these entities (in popular media form) has reduced them to emblematic husks of their once truly anomalous selves. Blobsquatchery in the Expanded Field

Blobsquatch,” is a variety of bi-pedal humanoid first reported by Vito Quaranta and Ray Randell three years ago. It is my belief, however, that the Blobsquatch is linked to the electronic malfunction, glitch, accident and aberration—other known anomalies of the technocultural realms. The Blobsquatch is a welcome personification, so to speak, of these marvelous creatures and perhaps the missing link between the cryptozoological and technological. Save, of course, from the gremlin whose knack for disrupting transportation systems (physical and virtual) will not be overlooked. It is my contention that catching a Blobsquatch, or related cryptid, requires baiting the creature’s native habitat. Staged accidents, frame-levelling, kinetic engineering and cinemolecular sabotage have all been employed in the videosphere with varied levels of success. Presently, plans are being made to visit and document cryptids of the audiosphere, particularly those associated with the electronic art of circuit-bending. Like the sasquatch, the Blobsquatches and creatures of the outer infosphere are a nomadic bunch with strong ties to the Pacific Northwest. Field recordings in the company of regional anomalists, with emphasis on circuit-bending and creative mis-use of electronic devices will be tracked.

Core research continues at the Paranormal Mechanisms online thinktank, while time-based inquiries into the expanded field of blobsquatchery will be catalogued here
